Rules and Regulations

  • Conduct harmful or detrimental to the proper use of the library is forbidden.
  • Smoking, food and drinks are not allowed in the library.
  • No bags, luggage or items of any sort are allowed outside the library.
  • Silence shall be observed in the library. All mobile devices and alarms should be switched to the silent mode before entering the library. A fee of 5,000/- will be paid by the violators of this rule.
  • Misuse or meddling of equipment (IT, multimedia players, etc.) and infrastructure (like chairs and tables) provided by the library is not allowed.
  • Seats in the library may not be reserved for other persons.
  • Library materials may not be removed from the library unless they have been properly issued by a library staff and signed for in the check out register or the informantion management system (KOHA).
  • Mutilation and theft of Library materials are offences punishable and are also disciplinary offences. Appropriate action will be taken by IHSU library management against offenders. A student found guilty will be penalised.
  • The Library reserves the right to cancel reservations, loans, requests and to limit or withdraw a member’s privileges without prior notice for any reason deemed appropriate by the Library.
  • All books and personal belongings must be shown to the staff whenever required to do so.
  • Library patron user accounts are not transferable. You should always use your account when borrowing library resources. One is not permitted to use another patron's account to borrow library resources.
  • Members are required to immediately notify IHSU library staff (through email, telephone or in person, ) of any change of email address, failure of returning items on the stipulated due date or loss of library material.
  • Patrons may replace lost library material by either paying a fee equivalent to the price of the lost item or simply buying the lost book. Clarification on this should be got from the University Librarian.
  • The Library reserves the right to reject circulation and/or the renewal of Library items, including access to all electronic resources.
  • The IHSU library will not be held responsible for the loss of any personal belongings of users in the Library.

The Library staff have the right to:

  1. Ask Members to leave the Library if they are causing any kind of  disturbance.
  2. Remove any book, file, bag, food or any other personal belongings of Library users, which are left unattended.
  3. Ask a non-Member to leave the Library.
  4. No animals in the Library premises.
